Last summer, my 9-year old daugther, Mallory Marshall, was awarded a Motorcity Tap Fest scholarship from Compuware. We had every intention of sending a thank you note, and even had a picture of her performing her solo during the Participant's Showcase to send, but somehow through the the chaos of life (and last summer in particular), the actual sending of the thank you note fell through the cracks. We feel awful about that, but believe it's never too late to let those of you running this AMAZING event know how grateful Mallory and I were for the scholarship! I was just on your website reveiwing and printing the scholarship and registration information for this year's Tap Fest when I started reading the thanks yous from the other scholarship recipients. Again, we feel terrible, but want to at least let you know that we were so thankful for the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful, educational, challenging, fun and exciting weekend of TAP! Mallory's FAVORITE thing to do!
Mallory's still tapping, more than ever actually! She has another great tap solo this year and is hoping to be able to perform it during the Participant's Showcase. The feedback she's received from judges in competitions where Mallory's performed her solo this year has been very positive! She hopes to keep improving her tap skills and technique, and hopes to continue working with her tap instructor, Lauren Lenter, to keep coming up with creative, upbeat, young and fun, and current ways of sharing her tap skills through performances! Participating in events like the Motorcity Tap Fest will continue to help her improve her skills and inspire her with new ideas!
Thank you for offering this wonderful workshop and opportunity, and thank you for offering scholarships to assist us parents with the cost!
My daughter, Elizabeth Elliott, was honored to be the recipient of the 2010 Blue Cross Blue Shield Motor City Tap Fest Scholarship. Your generous support made it possible for Elizabeth to study with the leading tap artists in the industry and learn about the rich history of tap dance.
Elizabeth began training at Noretta Dunworth School of Dance, in Dearborn, when she was 3 years old. Her dedication to dance amazes me every day, she currently trains 5 days a week and maintains a 4.0 GPA. She looks for every opportunity to assist her in becoming a better dancer. Motor City Tap Fest is a prime example of one those opportunities. It provides exceptional technical instruction at all age and skill levels. With the state of current economy, especially here in Michigan, families are on very tight budgets and cannot afford the "extra" opportunities.
I am glad to be able to personally thank BCBS for their generosity. Without donors like you many students, like Elizabeth, would be unable to attend this event.
Dear Loretta's Dance Boutique
My name is Alexandra Plaskey, and this past summer, your boutique sponsored my attendance of the Motor City Tap Fest. Because of your generous donation I was able to continue fueling my passion for tap dance with some of the nations top tap teachers. I just wanted to take the time to thank you again for your generosity, I appreciate it very much! I hope to visit your store sometime soon and hope that business is booming!
Dear Heart and Sole,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for your contribution to the Motor City Tap Fest that helped to fund my scholarship this past summer! As a first year college student, money is extremely tight, making it difficult to attend workshops and classes. The scholarship I was awarded made it possible for me to attend the Motor City Tap Festival and continue learning, improving, and doing what I love most- tap dancing. I was able to learn from some of the best tap dancers in the industry today, including Gregg Russell, Bril Barrett, and Sarah Reich, which was extremely inspiring. Attending this festival also allowed me to meet Denise Caston and become familiar with her tap company, the Detroit Tap Repertory. Since then, I have started rehearsing with this company and love every minute of it!
Thank you so very much for supporting the art of tap dance and for making it possible for dancers like me to continue doing what they love. Sincerely, Kasey Stark
